The Case
On a Family Island, opportunity is not handed out evenly. A child’s path can hinge on whether one program has the funding to open its doors this year, whether a scholarship is available in June, whether a tennis court or a sailing dinghy is within reach. Every child in Exuma deserves a real shot at the life they choose.
Friends of Exuma’s Youth Development work is wide on purpose. It covers the classrooms where children learn to read, the courts where they learn to compete, the water where they learn to sail, the stage where they play their first note, and the graduation ceremonies where their next chapter begins. Together, our partners in this area make sure that every young person on Great Exuma and the Cays has a shot they can build on.
How Friends of Exuma Supports This Work
Every gift to the Community Fund flows to the Youth Development partners doing this work day to day, supporting the tutors, coaches, teachers, mentors, and directors who show up for Exuma’s kids. Where a partner has a specific need, a scholarship for a graduating senior, travel to a national event, or an instrument that opens a music program.
