Focus Area

Conservation

The water, reefs, and coastline that make Exuma what it is.

The Case

Exuma’s economy, its food, and its way of life all rest on the water. Reefs teem with fish. Seagrass beds shelter juvenile fish and conch. Mangroves buffer coastlines from storms. Keeping this system healthy takes constant, deliberate work.
Friends of Exuma’s Conservation work covers the long, unglamorous work of keeping Exuma’s coastal and marine ecosystems healthy. Our partners in this area work to protect the fragile environment Exuma depends on.

How Friends of Exuma Supports This Work

Every gift to the Harbour Fund flows to the Conservation partners doing this work, funding the strategic planning, water quality monitoring, mooring systems, and community engagement that protect Elizabeth Harbour and Moriah Harbour Cay National Park.
