Former ECYB Band Member Performs at WNBA Game

Marvinette “Marvie” Adderley is a clarinet and trumpet player from Exuma who is now attending Monroe University in New York City. A former member of the Exuma Community Youth Band and LN Coakley High School grad, she along with 54 others performed during half time during a Connecticut Suns game this fall.

“It was such a blessing to even be at a WNBA game, and being there and doing something that I love, which is playing my trumpet, to this day, I'm still thankful,” said Marvie.

Marvie will return to Exuma in December and plans to meet up with the Youth Band to share her experience and to encourage others to continue playing their instruments as there are many opportunities that come from it as she knows firsthand.

It should be noted, Marvie received the Run for Pompey Scholarship in 2024. She is studying Hospitality Management, a major that will help her get ahead in her career when she returns to Exuma, Bahamas.
