INITIATIVES

  • HARBOUR FUND: Friends of Exuma and its donors established a Harbour Fund to support conservation initiatives in Exuma. Through the Harbour Fund, Friends of Exuma and its donors support the EHCP’s initiatives to improve water quality and improve conservation efforts in Elizabeth Harbour.

  • STRATEGIC PLANNING & RESOURCE PROTECTION. Friends of Exuma has provided support to the EHCP to create a strategic plan for introducing conservation initiatives to Elizabeth Harbour. This plan includes the addition of new moorings, pump-out services, and water quality monitoring in Elizabeth Harbour. We encourage the EHCP's efforts to create opportunities for local entrepreneurs and work toward self-sustainability, while protecting the seagrass and coral reefs of Elizabeth Harbour. The moorings project officially got underway in January 2023 and as of December 12th, there are now three new mooring fields at Stocking Island and Red Shanks Cay.
