In the Exumas, sailing regattas are as much about homecoming, family, and celebration as they are teamwork and good sportsmanship. The National Family Island Regatta represents traditional Bahamian sloop sailing at its best.
The races take place in Elizabeth Harbour each year during the last full weekend of April. It is a gathering of many Bahamian boater builders and sailors to compete to be the best in their class. This year’s event will be in George Town April 23-27th, 2024.

NATIONAL FAMILY ISLANDS REGATTA EVENT: Friends of Exuma and its donors provided sponsorship and support for the National Family Islands Regatta this past April. The funds went toward supporting the expenses of the event and providing prizes to participants.
EXUMA SAILING CLUB: Separate from the NFIR, Friends of Exuma and its donors support the local Exuma Sailing Club. With the rise and strength of the Exuma Sailing Club, FOE is excited to play a role in supporting the tradition of sloop sailing. Visit the Exuma Sailing Club page for more information.
