supporting a thriving exuma community.

we support ongoing programs and impactful projects that make a difference in the community.

As Friends of Exuma, we are ready to serve. We believe that great things can happen when the right resources and good ideas come together. We believe in the value of experiential learning and providing opportunities to young people. We believe that individuals with healthy minds and bodies lead to a vibrant community filled with creativity and passion. These are people that celebrate culture, honor the surrounding environment, and band together with strength and perseverance during times of hardship.

Friends of Exuma supports…

sustainable LIving.

Nearly everything in the remote islands of the Exumas is imported or produced using fossil fuels. We support programs that embrace sustainable agriculture, backyard farming, rainwater harvesting, and off-grid energy production.

conservation.

Colorful reefs that line the Exuma archipelago are sensitive to human impact. By encouraging conservation both under the sea and on the land, we are ensuring a balanced ecosystem for generations to come.

youth development.

Community youth programs encourage team building, comradery, discipline, and respect for others. By creating space for boys and girls to develop these skills at a young age, they are apt to become strong leaders within their community as adults.

health & wellness.

Fitness, nutrition, and a healthy mind and body are key factors for a positive and productive community. We support programs and events that promote wellness as a habit and a way of life.

cultural preservation.

Bahamians are proud of their heritage, and rightly so. There is so much vibrancy within Junkanoo parades, Rake n Scrape music, and sailing regattas. These events and festivals bring together the community in celebration.

community relief.

Unforeseen disasters can devastate entire communities. We strive to have funding available for times of need, so we can be first on the scene, acting quickly to support those who suffer loss.
