Friends of Exuma donates $30k to Exuma Arts Network to assist kids art and creativity camp

The Tribune featured Exuma Arts Network (EAN), one of our charity partners, this week. One of our goals at Friends of Exuma is to find ways to showcase the non-profits you help us support. This summer has been full of all kinds of activities for the kids of The Exumas, with many of our charity partners offering camps, clinics, and educational opportunities. It’s nice to see increasing visibility for the good work, such as showcased in The Tribune article HERE.

Artist Sann Sann Lam started discussion of the arts network in 2020, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, and began hosting artists and a traveling show by the following year. In 2021, EAN held its first summer camp.

In Sann Sann’s own words, “We just completed our fourth summer camp – it was a wonderful success. Our primary thing is to create a creative community in a non-judgmental environment which gives children a sense of safety and security in our space.” All toward the goal of making the young people thrive and feel more confident and creative.

Many help put on the camps at EAN. For the second time, Friends of Exuma board member, Amy Butler, and her daughter Faith volunteered at the camp. If you are interested in also helping or getting involved in any other way with the Exuma Arts Network or another one of our charity partners, message us at foexuma@gmail.com.
